Create new Pages/Numbers template on iPad

I want to create a new Pages or Numbers templates for both letterhead and spreadsheets on my iPad, so it can save typing. Is there a work-around?

The app donesn't supports the feature, but you use "Save As" function on the iPad.

First putting a sample template on your iPad and add things you need into it. After finishing it, you can save it to an external place such as Dropbox, or email it to yourself and keep the email around. When you need the new template, you can take it into Pages app anytime.

Specify default space for database storage with iPad Safari

Safari desktop explicitly allows users to specify the default space for database storage from 5 to 500 MB. So I can increase or decrease the amount of space available for this purpose on the Mac. Can I also access this configuration option of Safari on my iPad?

There is no such setting option for the data base on the iPad's Safari. You can't do that on the devices.

How to Edit Playlists on iPad

I can create a playlist, but I have no idea how to edit playlists I create in the iPod app on my iPad.

When you select a playlist, it shows in the right hand window by artist. Then you can select song view to get the edit button.

iPad 2 Cannot connect to Internet 3G after iOS 4.3

I had updated my iPad 2 WiFi + 3G to iOS 4.3. When I took it off airplane mode, turned off WiFi and connect to 3G, it shows a full 3G signal but won't connect. Then I turned on WiFi and connect to WiFi, Internet worked fine.

That must be an iOS 4.3 bug. I just turn on wifi, then turn it off then open safari and 3G now connects.

Cannot sign in netflix on iPad Safari

When I tried signing in netflix on iPad's Safari browser, I couldn't sign in and got the error message " Safari cannot open the page because too many redirects occurred ". Then I switched to the new Opera browser and it worked with the Netflix website just fine.

If you have the issue, you can use netflix app thru the app store. The app allows streaming only, but don't let you manage your queue for dvds.

iPad 2 randomly reboots itself

My iPad 2 randomly rebooted itself. I locked it and set it down, then two minutes later the apple logo suddenly pops up and it was rebooting itself. Yesterday it happened. When it was on idle mode, suddenly I saw the Apple logo as it went through a "reboot".

If you have got the same issue, restore your device to factory settings and set up as a brand new iPad.

iPad slider gets stuck and cannot unlock

My iPad slider was getting stuck and I couldn't unlock it when I wake the device manually. The slider didn't respond to touch, perform an unlock, and refusing to move across.

To fix the issue, in some cases, you simply press the Home button once before attempting to move the slider. If not working, try resetting or restoring the iPad.

Smart playlists are empty on iPad after iOS 4.2

My iPad had just got the issue. My smart playlists were empty after updated to iOS 4.2.

Here is a work around. Just put those smart playlists in one or more folders and they will show up on your iPad. The steps is the following:

On your PC, click File > New Playlist folder in the iTunes, and drag your smart playlist into the folder. Then drag the folder onto the iPad in iTunes. After done synchronize, iPad will show the podcasts properly.

Airplay audio cuts out intermittently with iPad

Everytime I play anything via airplay with my iPad through the Airport express, it just play fine for 2 minutes and then the audio cuts out for 6-10 seconds. Then the audio comes back again, but it will cut out repeatedly few minutes. The Express units are both connected to Extreme via wireless. After rebooted all devices and updated firmware, nothing works.

The Express to Extreme connection is the issue. It is a lot more reliable if you cable the Express units to the Extreme base station. Doing this always fixes the stuttering audio.

Add fonts to Keynote/Pages on iPad

Unfortunately, no. Fonts on iPad are predefined. Many fonts can be used with iWork for iPad apps. If you import a presentation that uses a font not available on iPad, iWork will attempt to replace an unsupported font with one that is a close match.

This app seems more like a "Proof of Concept Demo" than an actual app I can use, and not a very good one. Only one level of undo/redo, no layers, no eyedropper tool. It is running slowly when I am drawing.

iPad mail keeps loading older and older messages

I have got an iPad 2 and set up Gmail. Every time I open mail on my iPad, it keeps loading older and older messages. But I have set iPad Mail to 'delete from server when removed from inbox'.

To prevent getting old mail, login Gmail via a web browser on your computer. Click Settings > Forwarding and POP, and then select "Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on." under "POP Download".

If you only use POP account on your iPad, this can prevent the iPad from downloading older mail.

Facetime Could not sign in

My iPad 2 is runninh iOS 4.3.2. When I try to log into Facetime, I get the error message "Could not sign in – please check your network connection". How can I fix the issue?

Many iPad users have been reporting many Facetime problems on anything earlier than 4.2.3. Just try installing the latest iOS 4.2.3.

iPad 2 gets 3194 error when updated to 4.32

I have a computer running Win 7 ultimate. Firmware was downloaded. But my iPad 2 32gb WiFi couldn't update from iOS 4.31 to 4.32. I just got 3194 error when attempting to verify from Apple.

To fix the issue quickly, go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\, locat “hosts” file and then rename it.

Broken iPad 2 glass

I just bought a brand new iPad 2 3g about two week ago. Today I dropped it in the case on the corner of the sidewalk and the glass broke. The screen is fine and the touch part still works, but the glass is cracked.

According to reports, Apple has unofficially offered a one-time only courtesy replacement for broken glass. I think that Apple will replace a unit even for accidental damage.
