I have an iPad not yet one month, but it suddenly can't be switch on. Even if I plug the power, it can not be turned on.

To fix this issue, hold the Home + Sleep down at the same time. Then lift up on the buttons after the Apple logo appears.

iPhoto Starts when iPad connected, not iTunes

Whenever I connect my iPad to my iMac, iPhoto starts automagically instead of iTunes. I've checked the iTunes settings to start iTunes when the iPad connected.

* Go to Applications > imgaeCapture on the Mac.
* Click on youripad in the list at the bottom left corner.
* Click on the small icon and it brings up a preferences pane, then set the "connecting this iPhone/iPad..." to be "no application".

I subscribe to Safari Books Online and has downloaded some books in PDF format to my PC. The books displays correctly on my computer.

Bloom County Library for iPad

Berkeley Breathed’s Bloom County is one of the most popular comic strips. Bloom County Library Vol. 1 has collected every strip from December 8, 1980, through December 31, 1981, including Milo Bloom, Steve Dallas, Michael Binkley, Cutter John, Bill the Cat, and Opus the Penguin.

Lots of book is unpublished material from the early years. In this collection, most strips are decent, but feel a little fuzzy on the iPad. Image quality not as good as "Loose Tails". This is only one problem.

After I updated my iPad to iOS 4.2.1 and the iBooks app to the last version, the option to select Books or PDFs disappeared from my bookshelf.

The option is now called "Collections" in iBooks.

Recently iPad's Safari has not been loading the entire webpage or slideshow that I am viewing. The loading bar loads up but nothing comes up. Safari just gets a plane white screen. But other internet apps is ok.

iPad video looping continually

My iPad video app will loop twice since updating to iOS 4.2. When video reachs the end, it just go right back to the beginning and start over.

* Launch the iPod App and play a music.
* Tap the blue intertwined arrows to turned Shuffle on.

Now any video played will only plays once. This issue may be fixed in the iOS 4.3 update.

The solution
Just hold the power button and home button until the white Apple logo appears. Once you see the white Apple logo, you need to wait for a while as it boots up. Then you will be able to connect it to iTunes again.

How can I password-protect my email account on my iPad? I know how to enable a password login for the entire device using Passcode Lock, but is there a way to have a password required to open just the mail app?

iPad takes long time to backup

My iPad have the Zinio application. I noticed that when I backup my iPad, it takes longer than usual. Over 3 hours to backup 8Gb of data. Tried different cables, rebooting the computer, but not working.

After turned Zinio's library backup off, the iTunes backup time is reduced.

Zinio and Cinexplayer are superlative free apps, but they have huge backup problems. It's horrible shame.

iPad disconnects during sync

My iPad is connected to the computer running the latest iTunes via usb. When I try to sync my pictures, iTunes goes through a process of optimising and the transfering. Then iPad disconnects during sync.

I finally noticed that the cables are different. I use my iPod touch cable, so it causes many synch issues. After cable switched, all issues vanished.

I just add another event in calendar app. When I touched "done" button, the keyboard stucked and froze in place.

When I delete either single or multiple email, iPad appears error message "The message could not be moved to the mailbox Trash....OK".

* Tap Mailboxes in mail app, it will show a panel:
Inbox, Sent, Trash
You need to empty the Trash.
* Or you can delete ALL accounts and re-entering data.

Numbers update problem on iPad

After I updated Numbers app to the last on my iPad, the rows became so small the ciphers/letters did not fit in anymore and cannot be adjusted. Even copy, cut, paste doesn't function. Very annoying! Numbers is now basically unusable.

YouTube : The server is not correctly configured on iPad

My iPad is connected to my home WiFi network. Every time I try to watch a video on YouTube, my iPad gets the error message "The server is not correctly configured". I can search for videos on youtube. After done hard reset and restored settings, it is still not working. The Youtube problem is limited to the iPad and it doesn't affect any laptop linked by same WiFi.

How to solve this problem
Just enter the Router with Explorer and change the connection to a different username to connect.

Waiting for a few seconds, you can watch youtube's movies normally.

Can't sort events in Photos app on iOS 4.2.1

I have 25000 photos on my iPad and also have Events sorted newest to oldest in iPhoto '11 (9.1) on OS X 10.6.5. Before the iOS 4.2.1 update, events showed up that way on my iPad. Numbers not retaining data on iPad iOS 4.2

This is an issue for iPad running iOS 4.2. Numbers can not be retaining some entries after you close Numbers app. And it also delete entries while working in spreadsheet. That happens fairly randomly.

While you are modifying one cell within a column, the data in another cell within the row will disappear. Any data entered with the last update is not stable and makes the app useless.

Temporary Fix: If the text disapears, you can use copy and paste. I think it's an iOS 4.2 bug.

Copy button comes up while scrolled pages on Safari

When I am scrolling different pages on iPad's Safari, it occasionally shades the area blue and a copy button comes up. If selected, the copy pop-up menu is displayed.

The iPad screen is so responsive and sensitive. You just need to use as light a touch as necessary to get the iPad to respond no matter whether you scroll, tap or whatever.

You can change default browser on a Jailbroken iPad with a Cydia app called Browser Changer. It may edit an app's Info.plist to trick the iPad into thinking a 3rd Party browser is Safari.

But it's not possible on non-jailbroken iPad.

You can't do it from the iPad itself.

In iTunes on your computer you can do this. Just go to Store > View My Account > Sign in > Purchase History button.

Movie cannot be played on this iPad

I have converted a movie to a iPad formatted video using HandBrake and I'm going to put the movie on my iPad. So I open iTunes and drag the movie onto the iPad to copy it , then I get the error message:

"Movie was not copied to the iPad, because it cannot be played on this iPad."

After I click "Make an iPod/Apple TV version" from iTunes' Advanced menu, it appears this message

"One or more videos were not converted because they are already in the correct format."

There is a bug in Handbrake converter. This software sometimes doesn't do the correct scaling causing a file with an incorrrect resolution. I simply used the latest version of Handbrake and it works now.

iPad sync issues in Windows 7

I had bought a new iPad, but I can't sync photos, music, video with iTunes in Windows 7 64bit. I got several error messages in the screen.

"The iPad cannot be synced.
The required file cannot be found.
A duplicate file name was specified.
The required disk cannot be found.
A folder was specified instead of a file."

It seems that the iPad does not synchronize properly in Windows 7. After I updated to the latest chipset and BiOS, the iPad is syncing now.

iTunes aborts iPad update with error 1631

I've just connect my iPad 32GB+3G to my Mac and opened iTunes 10. When I clicked on "Check for Updates", I got the following error message.

"iTunes could not check for an update to the carrier settings for your iPad. An unknown error occurred (1631).

Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again".

Then I just toggle the Cellular Data switch from OFF to ON for a few seconds. The Message gone. Problem solved.

iPad not update to iOS 4.2 with Error 1645

After downloading the iOs 4.2.1 software, I tried to update my iPad to 4.2.1. But in the actual it did not update. The iPad rebooted and then got an error message "1645 unknown error". The download bar maked no progress.

How to fix this issue
* Power the iPad off.
* Connect the USB cable from computer to iPad. Press and hold the Home button. When you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, release the Home button.
* Open iTunes to update iPad.
