I had set-up my iPad with an Apple ID for iCloud, when updating the device to iOS 5. Now I need to use other Apple ID's that I typically use for purchasing apps. But the iCloud Apple ID is grayed out.
How to change iCloud Apple ID on iPad
* Tap Settings > iCloud.
* There is a big red "Delete Account." at the bottom of the screen. Tap it.
* It will sign you out of iCloud. And then you can sign-in with the proper account.

This worked for me! Thanks:-)
ReplyDeleteWill you loose all of your data, and/or the account you signed out of? Can you sign back into that account, and all of your data from that apple ID/iCloud account still be there?
ReplyDeleteI tried this and it did not delete my account.
ReplyDeletehow do i reset my iCloud password? at the default set up, how many attempts do i have before my account gets locked out?
ReplyDeleteAfter I deleted the iCloud ID from the iPad, I turned it off and back on. I then added an iCloud acct with the correct @me ID. After it accepted the PW and returned to the main screen, I checked it and it reverted back to the ID I deleted.
ReplyDeleteWhy and how do I correct this?
Thanks! I did this on my iPad 2 on 04-07-12 and it worked fine. I said yes to delete account but no to delete data, and after it was done it came back in with my Apple ID that I had in iCloud (and on my iPhone), and deleted the old one that was on my iPad2.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I've been searching the internet for this solution and it was so simple. I appreciate the support. In response to the other inquiries, you reset your password at appleid.apple.com. And...I believe when you delete the account, you just sign back in with the new email address. If you deleted it then turned off the IPad, I don't think you completed the process.
ReplyDeleteWhen I go to delete my iCloud account (in order to change my account name to a new one), I get a warning that all the photos I have stored on iCloud will be removed from my iPad...if I go ahead, will I get them back?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much...been trying to do this for the last couple of days....All fixed!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Works same way on the iPhone. I've been trying to figure this out for days!
