If your iPad 2 is using the Apple Smart Cover and you still wan to use a Passcode Lock whenever opening and closing the smart cover, here is a basic tip to do that.
* On the Home screen, tap Settings > General.
* On right panel, turn on "Passcode Lock" feature. Below the Passcode Lock entry, you need to also turn on "iPad Cover Lock/Unlock".
