iTunes won't backup iPad when syncing

I have iTunes 10.1 running on Mac OS 10.6.5 and my iPad 64GB WiFi+3G has been updated to iOS 4.2.1. I can't be able to complete a backup in iTunes after creating multiple folders. During the backup phase of an sync in iTunes, the backup phase seemed to stop progressing and the iPad kept rebooting until I pulled the plug. Just can't quite complete the sync process.

After done a hard reboot, the iPad seems to function normally. Then I noted that the latest backup file was a corrupt backup. I deleted it in that folder ( ~/library/application support/mobilesync), synced normally and the backup completed .

The problem solved. Deleting the contents of the backup folder reduces backup time to 18 minutes.

When I powered it on, the battery was at 96%. Without using it, the battery was down to 62% in the next morning. Before the update, it would have been still out 100%.

iPad Case Recommendations

I had bought an iPad for use in the kitchen, family room, etc. Now I am looking for an iPad case. I don't transport it outside, so hardcase options like the Otterbox are not necessary. Who can recommend some decent options.

The Apple case is fine and suits you just fine. I also have bought one. The Apple one is protective while adding very little bulk. Apple case has a hard cover that protects the screen from pressure. It's easy to clean with a damp cloth if you can get after it right away. The Apple case isn't beautiful, but it's nice enough, more like aesthetically neutral.

I have stuffed my iPad in my bag for 3 months, the case shows no signs of wear.

Edito for iPad - solid Markdown editor

Edito is a great start to a much needed application for iPad.

Edito fills the void in my iPad workflow. I have needed a good word processor with built-in Markdown support and Edito has fit the bill almost perfectly. The additional bar of frequently-used Markdown symbols
, such as brackets, asterisks, underscores, etc, is the number-one selling feature of this app.

Writing articles on the iPad with the touchscreen keyboard is lots less painful than it used to be. Being able to check a link on a webpage from right within the app is a definite bonus. Edito would have been fantastic simply as a word processor, but the addition of the in-app browser is a huge plus.

Finally, Edito is a solid Markdown editor for iPad and well worth the price.
