iPad to TV with Apple Composite AV Cable

If you want to connect your iPad to the composite video inputs on a TV, choose the Apple Composite AV Cable. The cable also features audio and USB connectors, and a USB Power Adapter is included. You can plug into a power source, such as a computer or the included USB Power Adapter.
With it, you can gather up your friends, and watch videos or slideshows together on the big screen. You can also connect the Composite AV Cable to your stereo or powered speakers for a room-filling audio experience.
The Composite AV Cable connects to your device or Universal Dock via the 30-pin dock connector and to your TV, home theater receiver, or stereo receiver via the composite video and red/white analog audio ports.

  6. Most apps don't work. Try an iTunes movie (not all of them work either). Netflix just got updated to work, so that's a plus.

  8. Unless the balded- headed conservative black turtleneck-wearing guy who introduced the enfamous iPad to the world comes back and shows us how easy and wonderfully and successfully we can connect the iPad to the tv...I feel we're all wasting money and it wasn't meant to be. By the way, I too bought all the connections from the iMac store and got the same error reading under iMac stores directions of hooking this wonderful iPad up to my tv. (Device is not authorize to play)...Glad I did not purchase the ipad myself. Maybe the updated version to come will have more on it peeps such as flash drive capabiliity and tv as well.

  9. I got it to work straight off. I plugged it all in and into the TV, I started the Video app on the iPad, and saw the seconds ticking away, though the image on the iPad didn't move. So I knew the iPad was sending video out. I used the TV remote to switch the TV's input to AV4 (regular TV is on AV1). No problem.

What I want to do though now is control the iPad from across the room.

  10. Like the iPod, you might have to set the system to output a signal through the iPod connection port. You don't not have to go apple of course. there are a few after market cable manufacturing companies that have a composite and component connection for the ipod and iPad systems. Best Buy's brand Rocketfish makes both of these cables. I hope apple comes out with an HDMI already. Even if it is only 720, it is still much cleaner and sharper than component's analog signal. Get on the ball apple!

  11. I got the component AV cable for Christmas, and have been able to view Netflix movies from my iPad just fine. The only thing I need now is a way to control the iPad remotely. This works for me because I don't have the latest Apple TV which I hear supports Netflix. I'm not sure what other things I would need it for so am not willing to 'upgrade' yet.

  13. Go to settings/videos//tv signal and select correct output either NTSC or PAL. I had same problem changed this and it works great. Videos are awesome and music is ear blowing. Watch out neighbors

  14. Answer - don't use the app for iplayer. Just go through bbc iplayer home on safari. Works fine on tv as do videos rented/hired.

  15. Took me a while to realize that it only plays pictures in slide shows without the possibility of playing only 1 or select several. Best I guess is to create different album/slides shows through Photo-Sort but the quality is good.

  17. I experience the exact same problem as previous comment. Video looks great on iPad but when I use the composite AV cable to connect to TV - the image is black & white and grainy. Audio appears fine. Any suggestions?

  18. Go to the settings on the ipad and while its hooked up it should say Video Out and click on it and then click on NTSC or PAL which ever one is the opposite of what it is already clicked.
